Kabaddi is a sport that has been deeply rooted in Indian society for centuries. Being invented in India, this game has become a global sport, with India being the dominant team. To increase its popularity among the Indian audience, the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is held every year. The league involves top players from different teams named after Indian cities, similar to IPL. The PKL not only boosts the game's popularity but also provides a platform for talented players to showcase their skills and gain recognition on a national and international level. Since its inception in 2014, the league has gained immense popularity, and the upcoming 10th season, set to begin on December 2, 2023, is eagerly awaited.
The 10th season of the PKL will feature 12 teams competing against each other in a total of 132 games. The teams participating in the PKL season 2023 are Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Dabang Delhi K.C, Gujarat Giants, Haryana Steelers, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Patna Pirates, Puneri Paltan, Tamil Thalaiva, Telugu Titans, U Mumba, and UP Yodha. The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with the top six teams qualifying for the next round. The first two teams will directly qualify for the semifinals, while teams ranked 3 to 6 will have to play elimination matches to qualify for the semifinals. The two finalists will compete for the trophy of PKL season 10.
The PKL season 10 will witness the participation of top players, including Maninder Singh and Fazel Atrachali, who won multi-crore contracts in the PKL auction 2023. The league will also feature international players such as Esmaeil Nabibakhsh, Fazel Atrachali, and Mohammadreza Shadlou.
In the 9th season of the PKL, the prize money for the winner was 3 crore, while the runner-up received 1.80 crore, and the semifinalist teams were awarded 1.20 crore. For PKL season 10, the total prize money is Rs. 8 crore, with the winners receiving 3 crore and the runners-up taking home 1.8 crore. The teams ranking fifth and sixth will receive 45 lakhs each, while the semifinalist teams will get 90 lakhs each.
The Kabaddi games will be broadcast on Star Sports by Star network from 7:30 PM onwards, with the first game starting at 8 PM and the second at 9 PM. If you prefer watching the games online, Hotstar will stream the games on its OTT platform. Additionally, you can get live updates and even participate in cash prize predictions for the games on Khelostar, a platform especially for Kabaddi lovers.
